We took the show down at Urban Hive but it was great to see my dad's paintings enjoying some public attention. The show received some good local press.

Gallery show will feature paintings by my father, James Humphrey (1939-2008)

The Urban Hive Gallery in Sacramento (1931 H Street), will feature over 12 of my father’s paintings (November 7-December 5). I've personally selected poems from his published books to be displayed with his art as a celebration of his life in visual and written form. The gallery is free. You can see more of his work here.

It was good to see one of my images used on the V-12 Skateboards website. They make retro-style wheels and longboards in Orange County, California.

Recent work: visiting a local legend

I had the opportunity to photograph local legend Oscar Myers recently. He’s a long-time San Francisco musician who’s played with heavyweights like John Lee Hooker, Ike Turner, Etta James and James Brown. And, he still plays every Tuesday at Madrone Art Bar with his band, Steppin’.

When New Bay Media acquired Electronic Musician magazine earlier this year, they hired me to create the redesign. It was a fun project and we relaunched the first issue in less than five weeks. Insane.
